Heidi has practiced immigration law in the Boston area for nearly 30 years, most recently as Managing Partner of RSST Law Group. She consistently navigates even the most demanding matters with skill, addressing complex issues and unexpected challenges with a sharp grasp of both the legal stakes and the effects on her clients’ goals and timelines.
Heidi concentrates on employment-based immigration, with particular emphasis on working with health care systems and hospitals, universities, multinational corporations, small businesses and non-profit organizations. While she works across industries, her deepest experience is with companies in the fields of health care and medical/life sciences, including dental practices, as well as engineering, construction and architecture and information technology. She represents some of Boston’s largest health care systems and organizations, as well as key pharmaceutical and life sciences companies. She has extensive experience serving as outside immigration counsel to engineering companies with offices throughout the United States, construction companies and architectural firms.
Heidi’s experience extends the full range of employment-based nonimmigrant and petitions including H-1B specialty occupation petitions, TN, E-3 and H-1B1 treaty-based petitions, O-1 Extraordinary Ability petitioners, L-1A/L1B, Blanket L and New Office L petitions, and E-2 treaty investor petitions, as well as immigrant visa petitions including Outstanding Researcher, Extraordinary Ability, Multi-National Manager, National Interest Waiver and PERM Labor Certifications. Heidi also has experience with J-1 waiver applications including physician waivers under the Conrad 30 Waiver Program.
Heidi manages a high volume of PERM-based permanent residence cases and has significant experience with permanent residence cases for executives and managers. She advises employers on issues relating to worksite compliance, including I-9 compliance and unauthorized employment, and has represented employers in H-1B audits by the Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division and in I-9 self-audits. She also consults with clients on matters relating to corporate restructuring and due diligence in mergers and acquisitions, as well as immigration program support and training. Throughout her career, Heidi has presented to local industry groups and student and scholar groups at local universities on the topics of immigration sponsorships and visa options. She has contributed to a Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education publication on the topic of Immigrant and Nonimmigrant Visa Options for Foreign Nurses and has presented on business immigration law topics to that group and the American Immigration Lawyers Association.
