Julie Lavoie is an appellate and complex litigation attorney who represents clients at both the trial and appellate levels. Her practice focuses on briefing and arguing critical motions in high-stakes matters, as well as handling appeals before Connecticut’s appellate courts.

Julie has argued cases before both the Connecticut Supreme Court and the Connecticut Appellate Court, and has served as second chair on multiple successful appeals in both courts, playing a central role in developing appellate strategy, drafting briefs, motions and petitions, and preparing for oral argument. Her appellate work covers a diverse array of subject matters, including trade secrets disputes, product liability matters, multi-million-dollar tort cases, high-value tax appeals, legal malpractice claims, contract disputes, etc.

At the trial level, Julie routinely collaborates with trial teams to shape legal strategy, preserve appellate issues, and argue key motions that drive case outcomes. She regularly handles dispositive and other significant motions in complex litigation, bringing a strategic and detail-oriented approach to written and oral advocacy. She also maintains an active trial practice, handling all aspects of litigation from pleadings and discovery through depositions, motion practice and trial.

Prior to joining the firm in 2021, Julie served as a law clerk to the Honorable Eliot D. Prescott of the Connecticut Appellate Court from 2020 to 2021. Before that, she served as a legal research clerk at the Hartford Superior Court from 2018 to 2020.

Julie is also a co-author of one of Connecticut’s leading appellate treatises, reflecting her substantive knowledge of appellate procedure and her commitment to the development of the law.
