Ryan’s practice centers on commercial real estate and corporate transactions. He advises property owners, investors and commercial clients on every aspect of property acquisition and financing. He routinely negotiates and drafts purchase and sale agreements and entity formation documents. His financing practice includes representing both borrowers and lenders in commercial loans, refinancing and loan modifications.
His financing practice benefits from Ryan's experience on both sides of loan transactions, bringing the same exacting attention to closing mechanics and lender requirements whether he is representing a borrower or a bank. This perspective allows him to anticipate issues before they become problems at the closing table. His corporate work complements this real estate practice, encompassing the formation and governance documents that accompany many of these transactions, from single-purpose acquisition entities to closely held operating companies.
Ryan built his legal career from the ground up in Connecticut real estate and consumer law. His earliest exposure to the field came as a summer associate with Aspen Square Management, where he assisted the legal department in buying and selling property. He later worked as a closing attorney handling residential real estate transactions, and spent several years as a foreclosure paralegal, preparing files for judgment hearings and drafting motions and pleadings, as well as building and testing foreclosure document templates during a firmwide system migration. Earlier still, as a paralegal managing bankruptcy and family law files, he drafted petitions, motions and contracts and worked directly with clients navigating financial distress.
That professional progression, from paralegal work in bankruptcy and foreclosure to closing residential transactions to his current commercial real estate and corporate practice, gives Ryan a ground-level understanding of how deals get done, and informs the practical, risk-aware counsel he brings to acquisitions and financings today.
