Scott performs legal research and writing, helps develop trial strategy and assists with other legal work related to all areas of labor and employment law. His knowledge of discrimination laws and other laws impacting the employment relationship makes him a valuable contributor to the Employment and Labor Practice Group.

Prior to joining Harris Beach Murtha, Scott worked in the Social Security Administration’s Office of the General Counsel, where he defended the agency against discrimination claims before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and against adverse action claims before the Merit Systems Protection Board. Scott also provided advice to agency management about day-to-day issues, such as employee performance and discipline. Prior to that, Scott defended the agency’s benefit program determinations in federal district and circuit courts.

While in law school, Scott participated in the University of Michigan’s Environmental Law Clinic in partnership with the National Wildlife Federation. He also served as an executive editor of the Michigan Journal of Environmental & Administrative Law (2012-2013).
