Several news outlets reported Harris Beach Murtha’s announcement about Senior Counsel Bruno Campos joining the firm’s Business Litigation Practice Group and Stamford office.
Law360 discussed Bruno’s addition to the firm and his legal experience, highlighting his unique career path from actor to attorney, including his work on the FX television series “Nip/Tuck,” Disney’s “The Princess and the Frog,” and the Oscar-nominated film “O Quatrilho.”
Bruno told Law360 that mentors in both the arts and law helped shape his interest in the legal profession, though he initially had to address questions about whether he was serious about practicing law after 15 years as an actor. To bridge that gap, he drew a connection between drama and litigation.
“I thought, well, if you go back to the Greek tragedy model, which is the basis of drama, it’s the same as the basis of law,” Bruno said in an interview with Law360. “It’s a dialectical model. You have one argument on one side, you have a protagonist, you have an antagonist, and they have to argue, and then there is a Greek chorus that synthesizes their argument and reaches a synthesis, a solution. … In the law, it’s the same thing. In litigation, it’s the same thing.”
Bruno told Law360 he chose Harris Beach Murtha after deciding to move his practice from New York City to Connecticut, where he lives. He also knew the firm through his work with then-Murtha Cullina attorney Marilyn B. Fagelson on a highly contested billion-dollar punitive class action in the District of Connecticut, where the firm served as local counsel.
“I met with the business [litigation] team and they’re all just lovely, terrific, enthusiastic, receptive professionals. It was great. I’ve had a great time meeting them and getting to know them. They’ve put me to work right away on a really fascinating case. I’ve read up on it. I’m now integrated into the team, and I’m excited.”
