Several news outlets have covered Harris Beach Murtha’s recent announcement that it appointed new Office Managing Partners in its Albany, Saratoga and Buffalo New York offices.

Mathew P. Barry will manage the firm’s Albany and Saratoga offices. Melanie C. Marotto will co-manage the firm’s Buffalo office with current office managing partner Robert G. Murray.

An Albany Business Review article highlighted Mathew’s appointment following the successful tenure of John T. McManus, who led the Capital Region Offices for the last 10 years, driving a period of explosive growth and transformation. John will continue his work as a valued member of three practice groups and three industry teams at Harris Beach Murtha.

“Mathew P. Barry, a co-leader of the law firm’s team that works with financial institutions, will manage its Albany and Saratoga Springs offices…Energy and environmental lawyer John McManus previously managed Harris Beach’s Capital Region offices for the past 10 years. He’s remaining with the firm. Barry, who is also a member of the firm’s commercial real estate practice group, is a Union College and Albany Law School graduate. He previously served as president of the Albany County Bar Association and on the board of the American Cancer Society’s Capital Region branch and the Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York.”

Mathew and Melanie were also quoted in a Law360 story:

Mathew said, “It is an honor to have been chosen to lead the Capital Region offices of Harris Beach Murtha. It is an exciting time for the firm which has experienced tremendous growth over the past few years, including in our Capital Region offices under my predecessor and partner, John McManus. Now I am able to bring fresh perspective to the role and take on new leadership opportunities within the office and community, while maintaining the culture that keeps all of us here and happy.”

Melanie said, “As a lifelong Buffalo resident, I am excited about my new role as co-managing partner and the opportunity to join Bob Murray to continue to raise the profile of Harris Beach Murtha in the Western New York area and to highlight our capabilities, not only in Western New York, but across the state and into New England.” I have formed wonderful relationships across my practice area in commercial real estate and have worked on a number of impactful projects within my community. I am excited to further grow and develop those connections inside and outside of the firm.”

In an article on the Albany County Bar Association’s website, Harris Beach Murtha CEO Christopher D. Jagel said, “We are fortunate to not only have gifted and skilled attorneys here at Harris Beach Murtha, but people who truly care about the communities in which they live and work. Melanie and Mathew are two of our finest and we are confident their leadership and strong ties to their regions will help grow our firm’s work in those geographies and help Harris Beach Murtha become more ingrained in the community fabric of the Capital Region and Buffalo.”
