According to a recent Construction Dive story, the 2024 presidential election could have an impact on undocumented workers in the construction industry. In the story, L.J. D’Arrigo, partner and leader of Harris Beach’s Immigration Practice Group, gave his take on how the outcome of the election could influence the future of the H-2B and Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) programs.

“I think it’s clearer to project what would happen under a Harris administration. I would expect that there would be at least a status quo in terms of H-2B visa allocation and availability,” L.J. said. “Although Trump personally uses the H-2B visa program for his businesses, it’s less clear on how he will approach the H-2B visa program based on his history of restricting legal immigration.”
