Harris Beach Murtha attorney Brendan M. Palfreyman recently participated in a Rochester Business Journal/The Daily Record virtual panel discussion on Artificial Intelligence and was subsequently featured in an article detailing the takeaways from the discussion.
In an article entitled “Business leaders weigh the opportunities and risks of AI,” Brendan emphasized the importance of clear rules for using AI so a business can find the “the best way to balance productivity gains with mitigating the risk.” He recommended businesses adopt formal AI policies tied directly to employee training to ensure consistent understanding and compliance.
Brendan, leader of the firm’s Artificial Intelligence Industry Team, also outlined four key questions employers should address: who is allowed to use AI and for what purposes; what information can be entered — and what is off-limits; which decisions can be made using AI and which require human review; and can the organization document how an AI-driven outcome was reached.
