Harris Beach Murtha’s completion of its combination with Peabody & Arnold garnered immediate media coverage from law-related media.
Law.com and Law360 both wrote articles about the firms joining together and adding Consoli Bortolan Law Group, as well.
“Nearly 40 attorneys and 25 professionals from Peabody & Arnold have transitioned to Harris Beach, doubling the firm’s Boston presence. The move also comes on the heels of Consoli Bortolan Law Group, a Hartford-based commercial real estate boutique, joining Harris Beach on Monday,” Law.com wrote.
The article quoted CEO Chris Jagel on the culture of the two firms being compatible.
“I think one of the secret, or maybe not so secret, reasons that it’s been so successful is that we genuinely like one another,” Jagel told Law.com. “We enjoy practicing together, which enables us to collaborate to a far greater degree. We encourage people to go between offices. We encourage people to go between practice areas to bring those different perspectives and talents. We then end up with more practical, more creative and more nuanced solutions than our clients may have been able to get somewhere else.”
Law360 talked to Christopher A. Parady, the former managing partner at Peabody & Arnold, about the cooperation between the two firms.
“We’ve been hiring folks together. We’ve had some meetings already. We’ve referred some matters to each other. We’re working together with folks at HBM on matters,” Parady told Law360. “It’s really been as if we’ve been together now for a couple of months anyways.”
The Law360 article also quoted Chris Jagel on the strategy behind Consoli Bortolan attorneys joining the firm.
“The expertise and reputation of Consoli Bortolan in commercial real estate and development is unmatched, and while we had a very good commercial real estate practice, it was thin, frankly, so we’ve been looking to grow,” Jagel said. “To be able to add Lynn Bortolan and Scott Consoli and their crew was just something that really worked for them … they had a very limited scope, and so all the other things that their clients needed, they weren’t able to do for them, and now they will be able to as part of Harris Beach Murtha.”
