Harris Beach Murtha’s new Chief Financial Officer was recently featured in a Law360 article discussing his decision to join the firm.
Ian Altman said a main factor in joining the firm was its recent growth spree, highlighted by last year’s merger of Harris Beach and Murtha Cullina.
“Joining a growing firm following a recent combination was an exciting opportunity,” he said. “Although I wasn’t directly involved in the combination, I was at a firm that experienced one before I arrived, along with several smaller acquisitions in recent years. Those experiences gave me insight into how these transitions unfold and where I can add value.”
He added he intends to focus on enhancing the firm’s capabilities in financial reporting, analysis, budgeting, pricing and the use of financial technology, among other things.
“I also want to provide partners with meaningful metrics that can help inform business decisions and better explain financial trends,” he said. “Some of the key factors include spending time with attorneys and staff to understand the firm’s operations, asking thoughtful questions to gain deeper insight and identifying areas for improvement. I want to build on the strengths each firm brought to the combination while addressing opportunities for improvement, ultimately making an already successful combined firm even stronger.”
