(Sept. 2, 2026) — Partner Daniel Gimmel, a business litigator with more than two decades of experience handling complex litigation and regulatory matters in the financial services industry, is joining Harris Beach Murtha and will practice out of the firm’s Stamford and New York City offices.
Daniel strategically guides clients through complex litigation and regulatory matters from inception through trial, offering prudent risk and loss mitigation strategies. He represents individuals and family offices, businesses, financial institutions, hedge funds and private equity firms in commercial litigation and internal matters concerning joint ventures, complex business transactions, commercial loans and real estate, and other business-related disputes.
Daniel’s experience includes working as in-house litigation counsel at a major financial institution, where he managed complex financial pre-litigation, litigation, regulatory and transactional matters involving residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS); whole loan sale, purchase and servicing contracts; and mortgage insurance policies. He also provided business and strategic support to senior management regarding counterparty relations, loss mitigation and recoveries, internal governance and public reporting (audits, disclosures and reserves).
Daniel also has experience with significant securities litigation and enforcement matters in the financial services industry involving the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).

Daniel’s hire is the most recent for Harris Beach Murtha’s growing Business Litigation Practice Group. Earlier this month, the group welcomed Colin T. Barrett, an experienced commercial litigator who represents clients across the real estate, insurance, financial services and professional services industries. In June, the firm hired Bruno Campos, an experienced business litigator who represents mid-cap to Fortune 500 companies across an array of industries in all phases of complex commercial lawsuits, including bad faith litigation and putative class actions that have generated client recoveries in excess of $900 million.
