Buffalo Business First covered Harris Beach Murtha’s two recent combinations with Peabody & Arnold and Consoli Bortolan Law Group.
The firm has 17 attorneys and 28 employees total at its office on the ninth floor of the Larkin at Exchange building in Buffalo. It ranked at No. 20 on the Largest Law Firms in Buffalo List for 2026.
The article quoted CEO Chris Jagel on the firm’s targeted growth.
“We had a lot of clients that we were servicing in New York that had operations in New England, and we were unable to do much with them,” Chris told the publication. “All of our decisions on growth have been premised on what’s the best way for us to service our clients. We’ve learned that we’re the most successful when the reason we’re doing it is client-driven and the people we’re doing it with have very similar cultures.”
The article also pointed out the firm is seeing the most growth in practice areas like commercial real estate, health care, energy, immigration, corporate and litigation. Chris told the publication the firm will continue growth through lateral hires, but nothing like the Peabody & Arnold combination is in the works right now.
“We want to make sure our clients our getting the benefits of the combinations and the opportunities we saw when we decided to do this,” he said. “Because of the growth mode that we’re in, we’ve been adding attorneys in every one of our offices, and I think we will continue to do that.”
