Continues Rapid Growth of Business Litigation Team
(September 14, 2026) — Senior Counsel William H. Hython, an experienced litigator who represents clients in commercial and real estate disputes, has joined Harris Beach Murtha’s Business Litigation Practice Group and the firm’s Syracuse office.
William’s practice covers a broad range of commercial litigation and civil defense matters, including premises liability litigation, real estate litigation and title disputes. He manages an active caseload across all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, pretrial motion practice and trial. He represents a wide variety of clients, from global industry leaders to individual and family businesses, spanning publicly traded companies, privately held businesses, private equity firms and not-for-profit organizations.
He has secured summary judgment dismissals on behalf of a national service-provider client, preventing damages approaching $1 million, and on behalf of a national eyeglass retailer client, preventing damages sought approaching $30 million.
“William brings a proven record of securing favorable outcomes for his clients,” said Julian B. Modesti, co-leader of the firm’s Business Litigation Practice Group. “His experience with commercial, real estate and ownership disputes makes him a strong addition to our growing team of business litigators.”
This is the most recent addition to Harris Beach Murtha’s growing Business Litigation Practice Group. Daniel Gimmel recently joined the group to handle complex litigation and regulatory matters in the financial services industry; in August, the group welcomed Colin T. Barrett, an experienced commercial litigator who represents clients across the real estate, insurance, financial services and professional services industries; and in June, the firm hired Bruno Campos, an experienced business litigator who represents mid-cap to Fortune 500 companies across an array of industries in all phases of complex commercial lawsuits, including bad faith litigation and putative class actions.
Before joining Harris Beach Murtha, William was a partner at a Syracuse-area law firm, where he concentrated his practice on commercial litigation, civil defense and premises liability litigation.
