Heather Berchem to Speak at Massachusetts Assisted Living Association’s Regulations Training

On June 20, partner Heather Berchem will speak at the Massachusetts Assisted Living Association’s Regulations Training. Her presentation, “Negotiated Risk: How to Effectively Use Negotiated Risk Agreements in Assisted Living,” will explain what Negotiated Risk Agreements (NRAs) are, how they should and should not be used, tips for effectively using NRAs to reduce risks and promote good communication and lastly, who is eligible to sign an NRA.

Heather Berchem serves as chair of the firm’s Regulatory Department and Long-Term Care practice. She also is a member of the firm’s Health Care practice. In her practice, Heather advises nursing homes, assisted living communities, CCRCs, hospitals, and home health care and hospice agencies on a wide range of regulatory, compliance, risk management and reimbursement issues. Heather has lectured on a wide variety of long-term care and health care topics both at the state and national level.

The Massachusetts Assisted Living Association (MASS-ALA) is a not-for-profit association, dedicated to professionally operated assisted living residences in Massachusetts that provide housing and services for individuals with varied needs and income levels. MASS-ALA serves as the voice of assisted living in Massachusetts, providing information and education, and advocating on behalf of MASS-ALA members and the seniors they serve.
