Harris Beach Murtha Immigration Partner Dana Bucin will present a session during the upcoming Connecticut Conference of Independent Colleges (CCIC) Annual Member Forum on November 14th. Her session is titled, “2A: Leveraging Student Visas and Post-graduation Work Visas for Maintaining High International Student Enrollment at CT Colleges: How to Turn Adversity into Recruitment Opportunities,” and a description is below:

International students play a vital role in sustaining Connecticut’s colleges and economy. This session explores how institutions can navigate current visa challenges and use them as opportunities to strengthen recruitment. Participants will gain an overview of F-1 and J-1 student visas, including CPT, OPT, and academic training, as well as post-graduation work options such as OPT STEM extensions, H-1B, and other visa categories. Discussion will highlight current policy obstacles—from visa revocations to changes in duration of status—and outline strategies to turn these adversities into enrollment and integration advantages.

This event is open to the administration and staff of CCIC Member Institutions and current Corporate Affiliate Program Members.
